Manor House . Lisbon . Portugal

In a corner of Lisbon, there is a manor house surrounded by a huge garden. It has been renovated but nothing has been lost. The seductive windows that time have not changed reveal the secrets of the trees. The firmness of the black and white moves gaining the energy of the green. A leather-topped table, surrounded by antique, upholstered armchairs awaits the notes of the day.

The white of the walls lead to nooks populated with elements that look out onto the garden outside.

Linens, cotton, stones and wood bring inside the light of the elements that rest on the noble floor. An involving sofa, enlivened by two vintage chairs, lets you guess that there are conversations there, around two stately stone tables. A table from the thirties is now near the chaise longue that restfully looks at the garden, while unveiling the bouquet of flowers. On a chest of drawers, painted jade, the energy is renewed and everything settles into serenity.

When day breaks the lights come on and this coziness reveals that now is the time to relax among the inviting cushions that play with the colours of the house. Around the oval dining table, in wood, with elegant chrome feet, the chairs dressed in different patterns and textures finds an agreement between past eras and modern times.

And when the chef unleashes his skills everything around conspires to his benefit.
On the immaculate white wall there’s a sentence reminding us that great food choices are a good investment. Above the island a contemporary light fixture defines the space. When friends come to taste the new wines, they sit around the chestnut table, where crusty bread revives old memories. And there are those who enjoy the stone benches better, and remain to listen to the conversations that one day will become new stories.

Strong tones, in the Master suite, warm up the time to rest. Surrounded by walls lined with striped wallpaper, the bed is flanked by bedside tables that don’t pinch its dignity. Nearby an 18th century chair carved and adorned with gold leaves invite you to continue the book that has been left on the tiled table.

Next door, in the most feminine bedroom, the purity of white compliments the romanticism of the lace. This is a house bustling with improbable mixtures driven by a graphic line that fits into an eclectic style.
